Georges Penalver

France Telecom-ORANGE, Senior Executive VP Strategy & Development

Georges Penalver is appointed to France Telecom's General Management Committee, in charge of “Group Strategy and Development".

Before joining France Telecom, Georges Penalver was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SAGEM Communication (Groupe SAFRAN).

From 2002 to 2005, as General Manager of SAGEM's Broadband Communication Business Group, he supervised the launch of new fixed and mobile product offerings (DSL access, modems, routers, triple play gateways, video telephony, digital TV, etc.), implementation of cutting edge telecom networks, industrial deployment in Tunisia, Asia and Eastern Europe, and extension of sales networks in Europe, China, South-East Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

During his career at SAGEM since 1980, Georges Penalver moved from researcher within the Telecom Terminals R&D team, to director of the Fax & Wireless Telephony Department, and director of the Networks & Internet Division, before being appointed to SAGEM's Executive Board in April 2001. Throughout this period, he participated in the mass development of mobile and internet services.

Georges Penalver is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (Aix en Provence, gold medal, 1974) and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Télécommunications (Paris, 1980). He was born in 1956.
