With nearly every mobile phone shipping with a camera, there has been a rapid increase in the amount of visual data being generated. There are more photos taken every day than there are Google searches, yet less than 5% of images uploaded to the internet have any intelligence applied to them. In addition to sheer volume, even more interesting is that the use-case for the camera is changing; the mobile camera is evolving to become a visual sensor with implications for commerce, social networking, media and gaming. This session will focus on trends in mobile visual intelligence, and how both computer vision and crowdsourcing are taking shape to make cameras smart and photos useful.
